Community Coalitions
What are community coalitions?
Community coalitions are comprised of parents, teachers, law enforcement, businesses, religious leaders, health providers and other community activists who agree to work together toward a common goal of building a safe, healthy, and drug-free community.
How do coalitions make a difference in communities?
Coalition building is a smart strategy that makes a difference in communities by promoting coordination and collaboration while making efficient use of limited community resources.
The Risk Is Real campaign is dedicated to ending underage marijuana use. Just like addressing underage alcohol use, it can be a challenge. We can get there by increasing adult and youth awareness about the risks and encouraging families and other caring adults to talk with youth about the true impact of underage marijuana misuse. Forward South Bronx Coalition is a group of community partners in collaboration against underage drinking, cannabis, and other substance misuse. Our primary mission is to reduce substance use among the youth in the Longwood/Hunts Point community of the South Bronx, by raising awareness, eliminating risky behaviors, and establishing a healthy lifestyle for all residents.
FSBC is a diverse group of community partners who are determined to move the South Bronx forward and protect our youth from harmful and life-long effects of underage drinking, marijuana, and other substance misuse.
